So you have a fancy bike, but need a way of storing it safely when not in use? No problem. We've compiled a guide to help you choose the best bike storage solution for your situation. Whether it's just the one bike, bikes for the family or you are running the N+1 rule and you're out of space, there's a bike rack or stand out there to suit your needs!

Wall mounted bike racks - Vertical

Short of space? Need a storage solution that won't get in the way? A vertical wall rack from Steadyrack is the best option available. Steadyrack vertical bike racks present a combination of space saving function with a sleek and stylish form that compliments practically any space. This includes garages, sheds, apartments and balconies (even though we recommend storing the bikes inside, away from the elements).

Whether you’re storing one of your bikes, many of your bikes or bikes for the whole family, the Steadyrack range of bike storage racks are built to last, easy to use, require no lifting and most importantly space saving. Steadyrack, the world’s first pivoting bike rack requires no lifting, saves space, is safe and secure for your bike, other bikes, cars and passers-by. The stylish and contemporary design is easy to install, is lockable, features an arm that folds away when not in use and its patented pivot design prevents damage or injury from accidental dislodging.

Most traditional vertical bike storage place your bike 90 degrees against the wall. Steadyrack’s patented pivot feature allows for you to rotate your bike up to 160 degrees to the left and to the right, enabling you to fold your bike almost completely flat against the wall, with very little effort. This takes up less space and allows you to store more bikes in the one location, using less room.

Benefits of vertical bike racks:

  • 160 degrees of movement allowing you to fold you bike almost flat against the wall
  • The ultimate space saving solution for bike storage
  • No lifting - simply balance the bike on it's rear wheel and roll into place
  • Built to last - made from steel and UV treated plastic
  • Compatible with 99.9% of bikes - Supports up to 35kg & wheels sizes up to 5"

Wall mounted bike racks - Horizontal

Have a big empty wall or want to display your bike as a piece of art? Then a horizontal, wall mounted rack is a good option. Simple attach the rack to the wall, then lift your bike onto the supportive rack arms.

However, there are downsides to a horizontal wall rack. It can take up a lot more space than other bike storage solutions, it requires the user to be able to lift the bike up onto the rack, and there are limitations around compatible bikes due to varying top tube designs. In general, this style of rack will be compatible with most road bikes, urban bikes and hardtail mountain bikes. But, some full suspension mountain bikes and electric bikes may not work with this type of bike rack.

Horizontal wall bike racks are best used when you want to show off your bike. If it is to be hung on display like a piece of art, it’s the only way to truly show off the bike in all its glory!

Floor level stands are great when you have a lot of space at your disposal or want a simple solution to stand your bike upright. Typically, there are three types of floor stands for bikes, but each of them utilize the same floor space, the only thing that varies is where they mount to the bike.
