In our third edition of '2021 Kona Releases' we look at the new Electric bike range, a carbon gravel bike and the fanciest Process 134 in the Kona line up for 2021.

In this third and final instalment of our ‘Top ’ articles, we wrap up Kona’s new models for 2021, again focussing on bikes that are new to the range, or receive an entirely new frame for the season.

2021 Kona Remote/E7000

The veteran of the Kona e-MTB lineup and a top choice whether you’re looking for your first e-bike, or searching for something trail enabled for reaching deeper into the woods. The Remote brings elements and geometry across from the Honzo and powers it all with a Shimano E7000 motor and 504Wh battery. From rail trails to backcountry trail building missions and everything in-between.

2021 Kona Remote 160 DL/EP8

The introduction of the Remote 160 in 2020 brought the feeling of a Process to an eBike. With rave reviews from many of mountain biking’s top publications, Kona wanted to take things a step further. The biggest change is the use of 29” wheels, rather than the 27.5” on the regular Remote 160 model. The Remote 160 DL utilizes Shimano’s new EP800 motor with a 504 Wh battery. The 160mm rear wheel travel is matched perfectly by the 160mm RockShox Zeb Select+ Charger RC2.1 Debonair fork. E-MTB-specific SRAM Guide RE brakes with 200mm rotors slow you down when you need and Maxxis Assegai EXO+ TR 3C tyres give you excellent traction over the roughest terrain.

2021 Kona Dew-E DL/E6100 Integrated

Commuters have been asking for a beefed-up version of Kona’s Dew-E, and their answer is the creatively named Dew-E DL. An aluminium frame features a Kona Rove Verso Full Carbon Flat Mount Disc fork, while the 10-speed Shimano Deore drivetrain works in perfect harmony with their E6100 motor. Powered by a 504 Wh battery, your long commute can now be much less taxing. Sturdy aluminium fenders and lights keep you dry and seen throughout your ride. 2021 Kona Libre EL

Gravel riding is becoming popular, as are Electric Bikes, put them together and you get the Libre EL, a capable gravel grinder with some added assistance. Based on Konas wildly popular Libre platform, the Libre EL features an aluminium frame and Verso Full Carbon Flat Mount Disc fork. Like its CR DL sibling, it’s running a Shimano GRX 810 11-speed drivetrain and brakes, and a TransX + RAD Internal dropper post activated by Shimano’s GRX lever. Unlike its analog sibling, it gets a power boost from a Shimano E7000 motor and 504 Wh internal battery. Go further, longer, harder!
